For 2023, Honda has unveiled an entirely reimagined CR-V. The fifth-generation CR-V was available from 2017 through 2022, making it an older model than many of its rivals in the compact SUV class. The timing of Honda's comprehensive redesign for 2023, which ushers in the SUV manufacturer's sixth generation, couldn't be better. The resulting vehicle is a significantly more formidable contender in its class.

The new Honda CR-V comes in the following trim levels:

  • EX
  • EX-L
  • Sport
  • Sport Touring

Interior Review of the 2023 Honda CR-V

The air vents in the Honda CR-V are hidden in a stylish honeycomb-textured insert that spans the entirety of the dashboard. A 7.0-inch screen, accessible via the steering wheel, displays a variety of menus and works in tandem with an analog speedometer. The new CR-V's driving position and front seats help reduce driver fatigue.

There is plenty of storage space in the center console between the front seats, and the rear seats recline and offer extra legroom compared to the outgoing CR-V.

The exterior Honda CR-V underwent immense fine-tuning. In comparison to its forerunner, the new CR-V features a lower beltline. Redesigned from bumper to headlights, the new front end features an elongated nose, a reworked bumper, an updated grille, and bold headlights capped with LEDs. The 2023 CR-V is bigger in every dimension compared to the 2022 model.

Power and Performance of the 2023 Honda CR-V

A 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 190 horsepower and is standard. It mates to either a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and a CVT. Only the hybrid drivetrain, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors producing 204 horsepower, is available for the Sport and Sport Touring trims. The Sport is available with either front- or all-wheel drive, but the Sport Touring comes standard with all-wheel drive.

When descending steep or slippery hills at low speeds, the hill-descent control standard on all CR-Vs helps keep the compact SUV under control. Most of the lineup rides on 18-inch wheels, while the Sport gets unique black wheels.
