Honda Fit: Your City-Friendly Subcompact

The Honda Fit is the automaker's subcompact hatchback, and it is ready to provide all the style, versatility, efficiency, safety, and technology you need. You will make an excellent impression with the automatic headlights, chrome trim, LED accent lights, and rear spoiler. The Fit also makes it easy to optimize your fuel efficiency with the ECON button and the Eco Assist efficiency coach.

One of the most innovative features of the Honda Fit is its second-row Magic Seat, which is a feature that can also be found on other Honda models praised for their versatility. The Magic Seat allows the splitting rear seats to fold up or down. Folding them down is the traditional technique for expanding the cargo area that most drivers will be familiar with, while folding the seatbacks up opens a world of possibilities, letting you move tall objects. You can also fold the Fit?s front seat, making room for a ladder or other long items.

What’s New in the 2020 Honda Fit?

The 2020 Fit is part of a generation that launched five years earlier, and it has received multiple updates since then. In 2019, Honda added automatic high beams to its list of available features, and in 2018, they added new safety options like forward collision warning. The 2018 model also saw the addition of smartphone connectivity through Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™.

Honda Fit's History Spans Over a Decade

The Honda Fit spent several years in Japan as the Honda Jazz before arriving in the United States for 2007. It was only after the Jazz made record sales multiple years in a row that Honda began selling it in the U.S. as the Fit. The only issues with the early Fit were that taller drivers couldn?t adjust the steering wheel and the cabin was noisy, but both these problems were addressed very quickly. Right from its introduction in the U.S., the 2007 Fit was available with two trim levels, the Magic Seat, and up to 42 cubic feet for cargo. The original 109-horsepower 1.5-liter 4-cylinder powertrain still had more than enough power for this hatchback, particularly since the vehicle itself was smaller than it is today. It started off with a 5-speed manual or automatic with shift paddles on the Sport. Standard features included a CD player and air conditioning with plenty of available features, like an auxiliary jack, premium audio, cruise control, keyless entry, and leather on the steering wheel.

When the second generation of the Fit arrived, this subcompact grew 2 inches in width and 4 inches in length. The engine was updated to deliver 117 horsepower, more than enough of an improvement for the small increase in size. The Magic Seat also saw modifications that increased cargo capacity to 57 cubic feet, while standard features were dramatically expanded to include full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, keyless entry, and more.

The 2015 Fit once again saw a complete redesign, which included a minimal decrease in length along with an increase in width and over an inch increase to the wheelbase. The rear-seat passengers on this model year were happier with an extra 4.8 inches in legroom, while the interior increased by 5 cubic feet overall. The powertrain also got more exciting with a 130-horsepower 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. Honda added newly available features, like a power sunroof, push-button start, heated front seats, and leather upholstery and made a USB port and Bluetooth standard.
