With the weather getting warmer, you’re probably eager to get out of the house and explore Omaha, Nebraska. One great way to do it is to get your bike out of storage and hit one of the city’s bike paths. Here are two of the best bike paths in Omaha.

  1. Skyline Trail

The 5-mile Skyline Trail, located in Omaha’s Elkhorn neighborhood, is great for bicyclists and hikers of all skill levels. It takes cyclists through a variety of landscapes in a short distance. It starts out on Elkhorn Drive and leads to Ta-Ha-Zouka Park. From there, you’ll go across the train tracks and then over the West Papillion Creek. As the trail starts to run parallel with the Greenbrier Park stream, you’ll catch glimpses of cornfields. Once you pass through Greenbrier Park, you’ll end up in the Skyline Road suburbs, and then the trail ends on W. Dodge Road.

  1. Keystone Trail to Bellevue Loop

More experienced cyclists will want to put themselves to the test on the 27-mile Keystone Trail. This paved pathway runs through the northwest side of Omaha and then turns south along the Little Papillion Creek, where you’ll ride across the creek’s flood control levees. Highlights of the trail include an old railroad bridge and a wooden trestle across the riverbank. While a small portion of the trail runs through a commercial district, traffic isn’t usually an issue. Eventually, you’ll end up at the trail’s southern extension, which loops around the Bellevue suburb. 1

These are just two of Omaha’s many excellent bike paths. No matter which one you explore, you’ll have a great time.
