1. Prairie Plate

Located in the quiet rural area of Waverly, Prairie Plate serves farm-fresh fare to your table. An example of the menu begins with the first course offering assorted salads, crostini with chevre, or smoked trout and crackers. The second course includes grass-fed bison meatloaf, Italian sausage, and lentil stuffed summer squash. For dessert, a pecan square or rhubarb tart. Assorted beverages, including wine and beer, are available.

Prairie Plate is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., June through November.

2. Charlie’s on the Lake

Quaint and cozy with outdoor patio dining is the atmosphere at Charlie’s on the Lake. Begin your special dinner with an appetizer such as fried clams, a European plate of specialty meats and cheeses, calamari, baked escargot Havarti, oysters on the half shell, and gorgonzola shrimp. Next, choose from a diverse dinner menu featuring fish and shellfish, chicken, pasta, steaks, and prime rib. Complete the meal with a slice of freshly made cheesecake. After dinner, relax with a glass of wine, cold beer, or a specialty martini.

Charlie’s is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
