One of the most well-known attractions in Omaha is Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, a world-renowned zoo that consistently ranks on the list of top animal conservation locations across the globe. Check out some of its most popular exhibits and things to see.
Bay Family Children’s Adventure Trails
The Bay Family Children’s Adventure Trails invite children to play in nature and learn through hands-on experiences. Within this 5-acre area near the north entrance to the zoo, kids can explore various animal habitats and interactive exhibits. Around every turn on the trails, children can use their physical abilities to pull themselves up and over obstacles, climb a three-story treehouse, and crawl through underground tunnels like prairie dogs.
Backstage Experiences
The zoo hosts a number of backstage experiences for visitors who want to get closer to the animals. New explorations and opportunities are in development, but some of the current animal encounters include sloth and bear training and enrichment, birds in flight, sea lion training, shark feeding, and Antarctic penguin feeding.
Hubbard Expedition Madagascar
Some of the most unique and amazing animals in the zoo reside within Hubbard Expedition Madagascar. You can see the giant jumping rat and the aye-aye, a long-fingered lemur with rodentlike teeth. The exhibit focuses on an area of the world that’s a prime biodiversity hot spot.
Plan a visit to Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium to discover this world-class zoo for yourself. Whether you go solo or spend the day there with your kids, you’re sure to enjoy the experience.
