A new Civic Type R is coming for the 2022 model year, and it’s better than ever. The latest version of the Type R will have a more reserved look than the previous version, it will be larger, and it’s expected to have more power than before. Experience the 2022 Civic Type R.

The Power

The 2022 Type R will still get its power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine, but the latest version will generate more horsepower than the current engine. It will come standard with a manual transmission, but tweaks to the engine will include improved throttle response and better fuel efficiency.

The Design

Honda will keep the current chassis for the Civic Type R, but it will have some changes. The new platform is stiffer than the predecessor, which raises the performance capabilities. It will have a wider rear track and have a slightly longer wheelbase. The Type R will only come as a hatchback, and experts expect it to have a more refined ride.

The Interior

Inside, the new Civic Type R is expected to have a more minimalist design and some racy styling cues. Expect to see red accents, some faux carbon-fiber trim elements, and comfortable front seats with extra support. Honda says it will also have an updated digital gauge cluster. A new 9-inch touch screen will come in the Civic Type R along with the latest version of Honda’s infotainment system.

The 2022 Honda Civic Type R should reach dealership floors sometime in early 2022.
