There’s something so wonderful about the fall season. The air is crisp, and the leaves of the deciduous trees turn striking colors. Check out these four places to enjoy the fall foliage near Omaha, Nebraska.

Lauritzen Gardens

No matter the time of year, the urban oasis of Lauritzen Gardens offers visitors beautiful sights. Wander through the gardens, and enjoy viewing the colorful leaves as you explore the lovely woodland trail.

Fontenelle Forest Nature Center

Just 14 miles from Omaha in Bellevue, you’ll find Fontenelle Forest. Stroll any portion of the 19 miles of trails to see bursts of orange, yellow, and red from the trees. Let the leaves fall around you in the forest, or observe them from afar along the wetlands trail.

Hitchcock Nature Center

One of the most unique ways to see autumn foliage is at the Hitchcock Nature Center 17 miles away in Honey Creek, Iowa. The kids will have fun experiencing hands-on activities in the Loess Hills Interpretive Center. For a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding area and the colorful leaves, climb the 45-foot-tall observation tower.

The Lewis and Clark Scenic Byway

Pack a lunch, and take a drive along the 82-mile Lewis and Clark Scenic Byway. The drive begins just north of Omaha and ends in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Along the way, you’ll have stunning views of the Missouri River as well as the brilliant trees nestled in the forest.
