Going for a run is a great way to get fresh air and exercise. Lace up your jogging shoes and hit any of these four trails in the Omaha, Nebraska, area.

  1. Keystone Trail

Whether you want a short jog or a long run, check out the popular Keystone Trail. With 25 paved miles to travel on, you’ll get to see a good variety of Omaha terrain as you run along Papillion Creek until the trail ends at the Missouri River and State Route 34.

  1. Riverfront Trail

See the sights of downtown Omaha running the 10-mile Riverfront Trail. Paralleling the beautiful Missouri River, the trail takes you past must-see places like the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and Heartland of America Park with its central fountain and Lewis and Clark interpretive exhibits.

  1. Zorinsky Lake Paths

Beautiful Zorinsky Lake is just west of Omaha and surrounded by several paved running trails. One loop, which is 7 miles, winds through shady wooded areas and along the shores of the 255-acre lake. Watch for local and migratory birds, fox, deer, and the occasional beaver.

  1. Chalco Hills Recreation Area

Take the day, and head to Chalco Hills Recreation Area to enjoy its 246 acres of multiuse open space. Seven miles of paved and dirt trails await you, with the highlight being the 5.7-mile loop that runs along Wehrspann Lake’s shore. The loop trail is flat and scenic and makes for a wonderful place for a run.
