The Honda Civic Type R sets itself apart from the rest of the Civic lineup with its sporty bodywork, aerodynamic features, and large rear wing. The 2020 Type R is sharper than ever with some significant changes both inside and out. Take a look at what’s different about the 2020 Civic Type R.

The Front End

The 2020 Type R has a new front fascia with black plastic and matching trim pieces. The grille is larger than before for better engine cooling, and Honda also improved the adaptive dampers to help smooth out the ride, even when you have to drive over uneven pavement.

The Cabin

Inside, this Civic received some updates to the cockpit to make it feel even more sporty. The shift knob has a new, more ovular shape with a smaller, heavier knob. Honda added more premium materials in the cabin, including covering the shifter with synthetic suede, and the steering wheel with red and black Alcantara cloth. You also get Active Sound Control in the cabin, which changes the intensity of the engine sounds that come through the speakers depending on the drive mode.

The Safety

The Type R comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite of driver aids. These systems include a lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking when needed, and road departure mitigation. Automatic high beams are also added as a standard feature.

The 2020 Civic Type R has some exciting updates to make it drive better and feel better than ever behind the wheel.
